Item Details
Description
A real war horse of a Spencer. 100% original, mechanically perfect. The standard model 1860 carbine. The wood shows hard use. The metal is overall age brown patina. This gun fought Johnny Reb for sure. Very low serial number of 17983. This would likely have been in the first shipment of carbines made by Spencer. Complete except for the sling swivel in the butt stock. Blemishes bumps and carvings in the wood. Tiny brass inlays on top of the wrist and on the comb. Butt stock clearly shows the saddle-wear groove found on guns that saw long service in the saddle. Tiny head on the rear sight screw is sheared off. Wonderful "as found" old Spencer that tells a story just by its appearance.
