Description
This large 24"x30" oil on canvas marine painting shows the red roofs of buildings on the New England shore. The scene is reminiscent of light house keeper's buildings in Maine, and could be from Portland. The painting is framed in a deep-coved wooden 1960's frame which has been painted gold. The frame size is 29" x35" x3.5" deep. Betty Elliott is an artist from Needham, Massachusetts, who was an active painter during the 1960's. At that time she was a teen and young adult. Unfortunately she either stopped painting or had a name change which has made it very difficult to find further information on her career. By the strength of this painting, it is evident that she had good training and became quite proficient. We are hoping that more information about Ms. Elliott surfaces in the near future! The frame shows some dings, but is freshly painted. The canvas is in good, clean condition.
